Aiming at strengthening its ties with Greece’s Collegiate Community, local authorities and fiscal policy officials, the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization (HAPO) participated at the Marine, Green and Circular Entrepreneurship in Islands and Coastal Regions conference, which took place on Thursday, September 17, and was co-organized by the Municipality of Piraeus, the University of Piraeus, the Federation of Attica and Piraeus Industries, and the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

HAPO Chairman, Apostolos Touralias, was among the conference’s speakers. In a speech titled “Greek Aquaculture on the Road to Sustainable Growth,” he pointed to HAPO Members’ holistic approaches to sustainability: their interaction with the natural environment through their operations, the creation of value for local communities, and their procedures’ strict certification in regard to the welfare of fish in their farming units. He noted that “For us, at HAPO, sustainability is an integral part of our culture and entrepreneurial DNA, developed from yearslong efforts, tons of experience, errors that we grew from, and bold moves that were successful and allowed us to have greater ambitions.”
