HAPO supports the 2nd International Aquaculture Day

December 2020

The Department of Animal Production, Fisheries & Aquaculture, founded last year at the University of Patras’ School of Agricultural Sciences, held the International Aquaculture Day for the second year in a row, on November 30, 2020. The conference, open to all interested parties, took place online and was supported by the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization (HAPO).

The event included presentations by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Crete, the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research, the University of Western Macedonia, the Panhellenic Society of Technologist Ichthyologists, and others. Among the speakers was Ismini Bogdanou, HAPO’s Director of Marketing and Communications, who gave a speech on how “HAPO supports Greek Aquaculture in an age of great challenges.”

The conference covered topics including climate change, fishing resources in aquaculture, human resources and the job market in aquaculture, research and development, and transnational actions to support entrepreneurship in the industry.

HAPO strongly backs any actions within the sector, as well as initiatives introduced by Greece’s academic community, which aim at promoting Greek aquaculture to a wider audience and firmly establishing the Greek identity of our farmed fish.
