Covering, in kind, the needs of restaurants preparing meals for the hospital staff of Covid-19 dedicated hospitals in Athens.
The #Cook4Heroes initiative was set-up by a number of restaurants and their chefs, to prepare, daily, for free, wholesome meals for the doctors and nursing staff of the Covid-19 dedicated hospitals in the broader Athens area; the meals are picked up from the restaurants and delivered to the hospitals with the participation of the Municipality of Athens. The Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Association (HAPO) is supporting this initiative in kind, providing fresh, Greek aquaculture fish to the restaurants, covering the needs of the menus prepared by the chefs, for the next four weeks.
The restaurants supported, this far, by HAPO are By the Glass, Cardinale and Bocca Negra, as well as CTC, the restaurant the belongs to HAPO ambassador, chef Alexandros Tsiotinis.
#Cook4Heroes is the unique way chefs and restaurateurs choose to express their gratitude to the “heroes” who fight the daily battle against coronavirus: preparing tasty, balanced, nourishing meals every day for the medical and nursing staff is their way of assisting the effort and HAPO is delighted to pitch in.
The meals are prepared, on rotation, in the kitchens of the participating restaurants, following the stringent safety and hygiene protocols, as prescribed by the Hellenic National Public Health Organization (EODY). They are then picked up by a Municipality of Athens’ van and delivered to the hospitals.
As HAPO’s Marketing and Communication Director, Ismini Bogdanou, says “At a time when the significance of solidarity, support of the national effort and corporate responsibility is greater than ever, the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization chooses to participate in the #Cook4Heroes project, actively supporting the true heroes of the National Health System; we thank them for their selfless response to the extremely hard task they are undertaking”.
