26th HAPO Annual General Assembly: Financial Recovery and Growing Concern over the Lackof Government Action

Athens, Wednesday 18 February​

The 26th Annual General Assembly of the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization (HAPO) was held at the Divani Caravel Hotel, with full attendance from its 22 member companies and their executive representatives.​

​During the Assembly:​

• The financial results and key achievements for 2025 were presented.​
• The 2026 budget, approaching €3.0 million, was unanimously approved.​
• HAPO’s strategy for expanding into markets beyond Europe was reviewed.​
• The organization’s 2026 Action Plan was discussed, with a strong emphasis on environmental responsibility and the further promotion of the sustainability values that define HAPO.​

A comprehensive review of HAPO’s communication and promotional activities was also
conducted, leading to the approval of an ambitious communications programme aimed at:​

• Strengthening public acceptance of aquaculture.​
• Addressing misconceptions and misinformation about the sector.​
• Increasing domestic consumption of fresh Greek farmed fish.​

​During the General Assembly, all members expressed their satisfaction with the sector’s strong financial performance in 2025 and their optimism for continued growth in 2026. At the same time, they voiced deep disappointment over the continued lack of government action on the longstanding institutional and regulatory issues affecting the Greek aquaculture sector.​

​As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, HAPO donated the traditional New Year’s lucky coin (flouri) prize to the “I Hara” Centre for People with Special Needs, supporting the organization’s valuable social mission.
