Thursday 30 October- Sunday 2 November- With the goal of supporting regional development and the academic community, the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization (HAPO) sponsored the AGROWN Conference, which took place at the University of Patras in Agrinio. During the panel discussion titled “Educating the Future Leaders of Greek Aquaculture,” Konstantinos Bokas — Treasurer and Member of HAPO’s Board of Directors — spoke about students’ concerns regarding their future professional prospects within the country’s declining production model, as well as the stagnation of investments — and consequently, job opportunities — due to delays in completing the spatial planning framework for aquaculture. Ismini Bogdanou, HAPO’s Communications Director, spoke about the importance of education and skills development in shaping the future leaders of the sector, emphasizing that the six annual excellence awards offered by HAPO to postgraduate students of Mediterranean Aquaculture at the Universities of Patras and Thessaly represent a strategic investment in knowledge and human capital.
