The Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization (HAPO) proudly supported the 4th Aquaculture Sector Conference 2026, titled “Blue Growth, Global Vision,” as Platinum Sponsor. The conference was organized by AMBIO S.A. Consultancy Services, in scientific collaboration with the University of Patras, and was held at the Megaron Athens International Conference Centre, in Athens.
The event brought together leading representatives from the Greek and international aquaculture community, including aquaculture producers, researchers, technology experts, institutional representatives, and policymakers, creating a dynamic platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the promotion of sustainable growth across the sector.
The conference opened with a welcome address by Mr. Apostolos Touralias, Chairman of HAPO, who also participated in a panel discussion alongside Mr. Spyros Giannoulatos, Vice President of HAPO; Mr. Ioannis Chekimoglou, Secretary General of HAPO, and Mrs. Lara Barazi, HAPO Member and President of FEAP (Federation of European Aquaculture Producers).
The 2026 edition of the conference highlighted the key challenges and opportunities shaping the future of aquaculture in Greece and internationally. Discussions focused on European policies, technological innovation, improved efficiency and management practices, sustainability, and the important role of aquaculture in supporting healthy and responsible food systems. Special focus was placed on the contribution of women and young professionals in the sector, recognizing their essential role in driving innovation, leadership, and the future development of aquaculture. The conference program was further strengthened through specialized workshops, parallel sessions, international presentations, and case studies showcasing best practices and emerging solutions. Emphasis was placed on business networking through structured B2B meetings, enabling meaningful exchanges and strategic connections with international delegations and industry stakeholders.
The active participation of all stakeholders reaffirmed the importance of collaboration and innovation in building a resilient and future-oriented aquaculture sector. Through the exchange of expertise, ideas, and pioneering approaches, the conference contributed to advancing responsible practices and reinforcing aquaculture’s vital role in sustainable blue growth.
