Friday, September 26, 2024 – The Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization (HAPO), a reliable body for the development of Greek aquaculture, and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), a leading certification and improvement organization for farmed marine species, joined forces, combining experience and expertise. Through an experiential-informative trip, they highlighted to fifteen European and American fish buyers, journalists, influencers, and food bloggers one of the most dynamic sectors of Greek primary production. The mission (September 24 – 27) included visits to HAPO Member units that have received ASC certification, discussions with Member executives, tours of archaeological sites and cities with unique architectural character, and culinary experiences featuring fresh fish from HAPO members. A special interactive gastronomic experience also allowed visitors to participate in the preparation of unique fish recipes.
HAPO believes in and invests in the power of synergies on both national and international levels. The collaboration with ASC is particularly dynamic as it focuses on effectively showcasing the commitment of both organizations to fish welfare, the protection of the sea, the marine ecosystem, the environment, and their positive impact on human well-being.
It was a unique experience in which the foreign visitors appreciated the role of HAPO and ASC in producing safe, high-quality, fresh, flavorful, and healthy Greek farmed fish, further strengthening their trust and confidence in the sustainable Greek aquaculture sector.
