“Local Aquaculture & Gastronomy: New Opportunities for the Foodservice Sector”​ HAPO Participates in the Event Organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Thesprotia

​The techniques for promoting local products, with a focus on the importance of aquaculture in nutrition and the local economy, were presented by Ismini Bogdanou, Director of Communications & Public Relations of the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization (HAPO), during the event organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Thesprotia.​

​The event focused on connecting local production with modern gastronomy, aiming to strengthen participants’ skills in designing and promoting experiences that enhance tourism appeal and highlight the uniqueness of local aquaculture products.​

​The event showcased the potential of aquaculture as a key pillar of the region’s gastronomic identity. Specialized speakers highlighted the high quality of local products, contemporary gastronomic trends, and the opportunities for utilizing these products in the creation of authentic culinary experiences.​

​Emphasis was placed on the connection between gastronomy, tourism, and the local economy, highlighting new development opportunities for the foodservice sector.​

​The opening speeches were delivered by:​

  • Antonis Nikolaou, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Thesprotia;​
  • Anastasia Simou–Tassou, Deputy Regional Governor of Epirus;​
  • Ioannis Chekimoglou, President of the Thesprotia Aquaculture Farmers Association and
    Secretary General of HAPO.​

Additional speakers included:​

  • Georgios Zervas, Winemaker;​
  • Dina Nikolaou, who presented local fish as a reference point for the region’s gastronomy and foodservice identity.
