A unique learning experience was enjoyed by 20 students and accompanying lecturers from Le Monde Institute of Hotel & Tourism Studies during their educational visit to the facilities of “Argosaronikos Fish Farms”, member company of the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization (HAPO), in Salamina. The visit was organized in collaboration with HAPO.
The participants did not limit their experience to theoretical training on the aquaculture production process. They also had the opportunity to visit the offshore farming cages and, as future chefs, practice filleting gilthead seabream — quite literally out on the water.
The experience was completed with a unique gastronomic moment, as the students enjoyed an authentic seafood meal at a welcoming seaside table, under the shade of a large pine tree.
HAPO’s collaboration with Le Monde Institute of Hotel & Tourism Studies is long-standing and highly productive, with more than 10 workshops already successfully completed. This visit represented a natural next step in the partnership, giving students the opportunity to step outside the classroom and experience firsthand the practical aspects of what they have been learning for the past eight years.
This initiative is expected to continue in the future, further strengthening the connection between education and real-world production practices in the aquaculture sector.
