Athens, Saturday 14 – Monday 15 March
Operating as a dynamic meeting hub for its members, executives, partners, customers, and public authorities, the Hellenic Aquaculture Producers Organization (HAPO) made a strong presence at Food Expo Athens 2026, attracting significant interest from industry professionals, the market, political representatives, and international partners at its renewed exhibition stand.
The key issues facing the sector, international developments, and their potential impact on the growth trajectory of fresh Greek farmed fish sales were at the center of discussions. The exchange of views confirmed the strong commitment of HAPO’s 22 members to the strategic development of the sector and its broader contribution to the national economy.
In this context, the President of HAPO stated:
“The Greek aquaculture sector has demonstrated in practice its strength and resilience. However, despite the positive performance of sales, in order to continue playing a leading role in the Mediterranean and the EU-27, the immediate resolution of longstanding institutional issues that hinder its further development is essential.”

Fresh Greek farmed fish bearing the Fish from Greece signature were transformed into creative street food delicacies by chef Konstantinos Vasalos, accompanied by selected wines from the Nemea Winery region.
A highlight was HAPO’s event at the Mediterranean Food Stage, where chef Alexandros Tsiotinis, together with his team, presented original recipes featuring Fish from Greece gilthead seabream and European seabass. Inspired by Mediterranean cuisine and authentic Greek flavors, the dishes showcased the unique character of the fish and delighted the audience.
At the same time, visitors had the opportunity to experience a virtual reality journey, “diving” into the world of aquaculture beneath the surface of the sea.
During the three days of the exhibition, more than 350 visitors attended HAPO’s stand, including numerous media
representatives. A particular honor was the visit of:
