Promoting ESG principles and healthy nutritional habits to increase competitiveness, market diversification and effective communication for consumers in Adriatic -Ionian aquaculture and fishery sectors.

FISHIMPACT is a project funded by Interreg IPA ADRION and aims to promote sustainable practices in the aquaculture and fisheries sectors in the Adriatic-Ionian. It focuses on the integration of Environmental, Social Responsibility and Governance (ESG) principles and the promotion of healthy eating habits. The project involves partners from six countries: Italy, Greece, Croatia, Albania, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Interreg IPA Adrion Programme

IPA ADRION is a European transnational cooperation program investing in regional innovation systems, protection of cultural and natural heritage, environmental resilience, sustainable transport and capacity building. Bringing together 10 partner countries across the Adriatic-Ionian region, IPA ADRION promotes European integration and acts as a policy lever for the benefit of more than 70 million people

Main Objectives and Activities:

Promotion of sustainable practices- Training and education – Improvement of communication – Development of online tools – International cooperation.

The main objectives of the project include:

Education of producers on the circular economy and sustainable practices,

Development of online tools for self-assessment through ESG standards and the nutritional value of products,

Promotion of international cooperation through guidelines and memoranda

Impact on the Blue Economy:

Nexus framework for biodiversity-relevant transformative change

BIOTRAILS is based on a value chain approach to information on the management of natural resources and raw materials to support pathways towards sustainable consumption and production. It therefore seeks to understand natural resources in relation to economic activities and the associated consumption and production cycle.

The main mission of BIOTRAILS is to generate knowledge and develop tools that will inspire and accelerate transformative biodiversity-related changes in our society, using the Participatory System Dynamic Modeling (PSDM) to take into account the complex interactions between indirect drivers of change in four value chains of traded products (cocoa and chocolate, fisheries/aquaculture products, gold and timber, indigenous arts and crafts) and in an integrated way alongside the climate and social justice agenda.

Based on this knowledge and tools, the project will bring together stakeholders at different stages of global product/material value chains to design collaborative pathways that can lead to a sustainable future, proposing interventions in

policy,

urban consumption patterns,

corporate policies and

consumer behavior.

The participants’ actions:

  • WP3 quantifies the impact of indirect factors affecting biodiversity and provides the Nexus framework.
  • WP4 works to provide tools to identify and address leverage points for transformative change.
  • WP5 promotes the implementation and validation of BIOTRAILS Solutions and Trails in four value chains.

HAPO = Within the framework of the BIOTRAILS project, HAPO will coordinate the proposed case study for fisheries and aquaculture products in the Mediterranean region by providing inputs of knowledge and experience, data held on the products produced and traded. HAPO will also ensure that the project results are designed to be user-friendly, useful and relevant to the sector and to promote the use and implementation of the BIOTRAILS results and recommendations within the sector and its rich network.
